Managing Roles

What are user roles? The roles are granted to users to allow them perform some privileged actions. As it is in life, responsibilities should accompany opportunities – the role-owners should be treated as responsible for the actions they have been authorized to do.

Roles and their responsibilities:

  • Client – this role has the most limited access and simplest user interface. A client can
    • add new tasks from short form;
    • access tasks/incidents where he/she is the owner, reporter or notifiable person of the task/environment;
    • access environments where he/she is a notifiable person
  • Tester – has access to most entities, can add new tasks, testcases, testcase runs and components
  • Developer – same as tester, but also can start and end development of the change
  • Development manager – same as tester, but also can create changes, add functionality stages, plan changes to release cycles
  • Reviewer – same as tester, but also can review changes
  • Integrator – same as tester, but also can integrate changes
  • Release manager – same as tester, but also can manage releases, add and manage environments
  • Project manager – same as tester, but also can manage project's data, create review templates, manage roles in current project and add new modules
