Changelogic Eclipse Plug-in

What is Eclipse? Eclipse is a popular vendor-neutral open development platform and application framework for building software.

Using Eclipse plug-in

Using Changelogic Eclipse plug-in makes project development process with Changelogic sufficiently easier, comfortable and user friendlier. In simple words, it makes possible to use Eclipse as a word processor to edit a code of your project and as a Changelogic tool that lets you run basic Changelogic's specific targets for development, review, integration and code comparison.

Setting up

To start using Changelogic Eclipse plug-in just follow simple steps further described:

  • Download Eclipse 3.2.0 or newer from Eclipse download page, unpack and install it.
  • Download com.changelogic.client.eclipse_1.0-SNAPSHOT.jar from the “Supporting files” section of your Changelogic instance.
  • Place the downloaded file into Eclipse SDK's plugins directory (default location: $ECLIPSE_HOME/plugins). Restart the Eclipse SDK. When upgrading from a previous version of Eclipse plugin-in, be sure to use “-clean” command-line switch.

In Eclipse, after adding new or existing project you can see the choice of proposed and possible actions at Package explorer window from project specific menu “Changelogic” (right click on a project name).

Actions

Using Eclipse plug-in one can perform most of the basic Changelogic actions (one could earlier perform only from command line and some only from the web) in Eclipse:

  • Start development of a change;
  • View differences;
  • Update base version of a change;
  • End development of a change;
  • Start review of a change;
  • Pass or fail review of a change;
  • Integrate a change;
  • View versions' differences
